How to dip dye wall hanging.
Natural colored wool yarn x2 dye packet i used this one here and a 36 brass rod you can find at the hardware store.
While your fringe is soaking mix half of the dye powder into one cup of hot water and stir with a disposable dowel or other mixing instrument until dissolved.
I have wanted to do this diy for a while.
Leave for 20 30 mins.
If tap water is not hot enough heat water on the stove and add to the dyebath.
Check out how i made this diy.
Pour some of the black dye liquid into a painter s tray and bring it up to the wall hanging so that you can dip the bottom of the yarn strands into the dye.
Work the dye into the fabric with your hands for a more saturated color.
Pour 1 4 bottle of dye into the dyebath.
Dip in green dye 2 3 of the way up yarn.
Dip your clean paintbrush into the dye and start painting it onto the piece starting at the bottom and work your way up.
Stir the vat of dye then dip the rolled macrame straight down into the dye stopping about 10 to 12 inches from the top of the macrame this way the top of the wall hanging will remain undyed.
Squeeze out excess dye and rinse with warm water.
To dip dye the larger fringe layer first soak the bottom half of your cotton fringe in a bowl of water for five to ten minutes.
