Remove the outer nut and lock washer from the trolley threaded shaft and pull the threaded shaft out of the trolley.

Start by unplugging the motor. If not your opener might simply be shot and you ll need a new one. If you have a screw drive opener you ll need to grease several spots along the rail gear at least once or twice a year. With the gears back in place tighten the chain as directed in your owner s manual.

Reassemble the motor assembly and place it back in the opener. Use a lubricant that doesn t attract dirt. Shine the flashlight directly at the gear set. Pull the chain off the motor unit sprocket and out of the chain spreader.

Then install the helical gear assembly. Remove retaining screws from the cover.
