Installing metal roof on flat roof.

Next you are ready to install the metal roof. In this video i cover measuring the roof figuring the metal th. Use metal 1 inch roofing nails to install the metal edging that goes around the perimeter of the roof. Align the first metal roofing panel so that it overlaps the edging by 1 2 to 3 4 of an inch and is square to the roof.

Step 4 laying the sheets. In a standing seam roof long single panels run vertically all the way from the eave to the ridge. Install the roofing screws vertically along each rib in the panel. Space the screws about 12 in 30 cm apart.

Take a metal sheet and use inch metal wood screws to affix the roofing onto the wood slats. For exposed fasteners avoid over tightening the fastener. Use your neoprene washer head screws to secure the metal to the sheathing. The eave flashing or edging is just the steel metal strips used to cover the entire perimeter of the roof.

Low slope roofs are not totally flat their roof slope generally ranges from 1 4 12 to 3 12. You can also nail a chalk line straight every 2 feet to use as a guide. Low slope metal roofs have simple geometries and are easier and less expensive to install that medium to steep slope roofs. You are essentially sealing off the metal roof with this flashing and you need to make sure that is securely fastened.

Low slope metal roofs require less material which reduces the overall load on the building s structure. Be sure the larger edge is laid so that the small edge of the next panel will overlap it.
