Cut each sheet to the desired size using a utility knife then fasten it in place using staples or adhesive. Butt the sheets closely together but do not allow them to overlap. Insulating a metal shed roof with rigid foam can be done one of three ways by laying the board prior to applying the roof by removing the existing roof and installing new foam board or by insulating the existing metal roof from the inside. This foam can be used on either the outside or the inside of the sheathing.

Tin roofs will send any noises from the outside directly in your home. Seal the seams between the sheets of insulation with duct tape to further protect against moisture. They are very noisy if it rains outside. Plywood is commonly used with metal.

But fortunately the roof can be insulated against noises. The plywood will absorb much of the noise. This is different from the normal roll up type of insulation as it comes in panels rather than paper covered fiberglass. Rigid foam boards come in different material compositions varying thicknesses and different insulating r value properties.

It will help you to eliminate problems that may come when the house becomes extremely cold in the winter and terribly hot in the summer. Use plywood as an underlayment for the tin sheets. The duct tape will also help prevent air leaks and maximise the insulating ability of the roof. Avoids nails or screws which could penetrate the metal roof and cause leaks.
